Undergraduate study

Degrees are the most popular undergraduate qualification in the UK. They are academic courses, usually studied over three years in England, Northern Ireland and Wales, or four years in Scotland (where the title master's degree may be awarded).

University International Foundation Year courses help to bridge any gaps between qualifications already held and the ones needed to begin a degree course at a UK university.

Postgraduate study

Pre-master's courses can last from one term to a complete academic year and cover academic study, cultural instruction and language training. Many courses will guarantee progression onto a master's course at a particular university.

Postgraduate certificate or diplomas (PG Cert/Dip) are one-year taught postgraduate courses that don't usually involve research. They're often accepted as professional qualifications in the relevant field, such as education or management, giving you a fantastic head start in your chosen career.

Taught master's (MA, MSc, LLM, MEd etc) courses generally last for one year and consist of two elements: you'll complete a number of modules and produce a dissertation from original research.

Research master's (MRes, MPhil) is a master's degree by research. You will devote the entire year to research. Your final mark will be determined by the quality of your dissertation.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a specialist business taught master's course. It's the best-known and most popular postgraduate qualification.

Doctorate (PhD) will take you three to four years to complete, during which you'll be working on a single research project.

New Route PhDs include taught elements as well as a research project and give you the opportunity to undertake interdisciplinary study.

Why study in United Kingdom?

The UK offers a world-renowned education system, with qualifications that can make a phenomenal difference to your career. UK education is one of the oldest and well recognized throughout the world. Though the courses are for a shorter period as compared to those of the US Universities, they are intensive and save time and money of an extra year. What is a Highly Trusted sponsor ?

The Highly Trusted sponsors scheme came into operation on 6 April 2010. Only education providers that are Highly Trusted sponsors are allowed to provide courses with work placements that are below degree level. All publicly funded (ie state-sector) education providers are automatically enrolled on this scheme, while private-sector education providers have to apply to join.

Since April 2012, students from non-EEA countries can only be accepted for a UK student visa if they are applying to a university or college rated Highly Trusted by the UKBA.

How much are tuition fees for an undergraduate or postgraduate course in the UK ?

For each academic year, you can expect to pay £8,000 to £13,000 in fees for classroom-based courses, £9,000 to £16,000 for laboratory or workshop-based courses and £11,000 to over £26,000 for clinical courses.

What is the minimum IELTS score required to get into a UK Institution ?

Though the requirement is university specific, a minimum overall score of 6.0 is recommended.

Can I work while studying in UK ?

International students can work up to 20 hours a week as a part of their work experience. They can also take holiday work during vacations.

What is the procedure to get a Student Visa for UK ?

Candidates seeking student visa for UK, visa applications have to be made on IM2A forms, which are available free of cost at the British Embassies. This form has to be filled up by the student and submitted to the embassy, along with the Visa application fee and the required documents :

1. A letter of acceptance from the institution confirming your place for the program in the institution

2. Financial documents as evidence that you can meet with the course fee structure and can support yourself during your stay.
